A Gospel Legend In Glory: Dottie Rambo
I was saddened this weekend to learn that Dottie Rambo, the gospel legend and gifted writer went home to be with Our Lord on May 11, 2008 when her tour bus crashed into a roadside embankment in Missouri.
I was 18 when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Dottie Rambo and her daughter Reba were some of the first Christian singers and composers I was drawn to. Through the years, in times of sadness and in the valley’s, and in moments of great joy, Dottie Rambo’s music was always pivotal. Such songs as “We Shall Behold Him” and “I Go to the Rock” and ‘Love Letters” and “Behold the Lamb” and “Welcome Holy Spirit“ and “ I Call Him Lord” and “I Will Glory in the Cross,” and of course “Tears will Never Stain the Streets of That City” which I posted in my December 2007 post for my dad who is also in the presence of the Lord.
Many other singers sang the songs she penned. I remember hearing her say that each song came from a journey she had to go through, and as I listened to her songs, I can only imagine what “it” took to birth those lyrics.
There is a song titled “Come Spring” in which she sings of going to be with Jesus in Spring, and she did. Dottie Rambo is in the company of my loved ones. Dottie Rambo’s music and testimony will never be forgotten. Her stories and many testimonies were just as great as her God-given music. Thoughts and prayers are with her family. Thank you Father, for giving us a glimpse of heavenly music, and an annointed woman of God.
Psalm 69:30 – I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Isaiah 35:10
And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Zechariah 2:10
Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
Exodus 32:18
And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
