In looking up the word “search” in the Hebrew Lexicon the following words are noted:

1239 baqar (baw-kar) –  properly, to plough, or (generally) break forth, i.e. (figuratively) to inspect, admire, care for, consider:–(make) inquire (-ry), (make) search, seek out.

1245 baqash (baw-kash’) – to search out (by any method, specifically in worship or prayer); by implication, to strive after:–ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure, (make) request, require, seek (for).

2713 chaqar (khaw-kar’) – to penetrate; hence, to examine intimately:–find out, (make) search (out), seek (out), sound, try.

Psalm 139: 1- 10

1 You have searched me, LORD,
and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue
you, LORD, know it completely.
5 You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

 7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

If you ever ask yourself, “Does God care about me?”, then this is one of the portions of scripture which we can use as spiritual exercise and expression, reminding ourselves of God’s omniscience and omnipotence, not forgetting how great a love He has for us.

When you read the above, there is no question that we are not overlooked or forgotten, to the contrary we are encircled and hemmed in by his love. We are understood even when we ourselves don’t understand our feelings, thoughts, actions and interactions.

In reading the above scripture, it struck me that such intimate knowledge of another means that, that someone lives and abides with you. What other place would God, Jesus, make their home, but in our hearts. It occurs to me that when we give our heart to God, he gives us His right back.

The above scripture reads that He not only observes us, but he searches and discerns, we are known by God through and through with a perfect knowledge. It is like when a mother gives birth, and she examines her child minutely, counting all the toes and fingers, and searching the face to see some sort of recognition or likeness, so I imagine that intimate connection between God and us.
